Research Project
Since 2020 I am a doctoral student in artistic research at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, and since 2022 Junior Researcher, in the Music Performance department. The topic of my research is the development of artistic flexibility and alternative practice strategies through the practice on period instruments. Through the investigation of the musical affordances of a 13 keyed Müller clarinet, I conduct a critical reflection on their impact on my musical practice, the way they re-form my playing, and on how the force me to reconsider my strategies, my performances, and my artistic decisions.
I am also very interested in the meta aspect of artistic research, the construction of methodologies for this new and expanding field, the correlation between art and “scientific experiments”, and the potential of the adaptation of methods from other disciplines.
I have held seminars for master’s-level students to introduce them to artistic research and its methods in Tallinn and in Alessandria. If you would like to invite me in your music academy, contact me here!
